For several years I had thought about doing a video interview with Atlanta History Center about my military service but had always thought my story was pale in comparison to those Vietnam Veterans who endured horrific experiences.  I was encouraged when Dale and I were invited to be the speakers at a luncheon at Burge Club for their annual “I Served” event.  Sheffield Hale, the President of the Atlanta History Center, was present and spoke to me afterwards about doing the interview.  https://www.atlantahistorycenter.com/learning-and-research/projects-initiatives/veterans-history-project/ The interviews are preserved in perpetuity both at the Atlanta History Center and the Library of Congress.

The interview took place in early January, and I received a copy of the interview not long thereafter.  I was surprised to discover that the interview was not just about my military service but spanned my entire life experience from birth to today.

I realized about a month ago that I had images that illustrated so many of the people, places and events I described in my interview, so I set about overlaying the interview with those images.

You may or may not be curious about my life account, but I don’t think you have heard most of these stories.

It is 90 minutes long.   I suggest you watch it on a large screen to take advantage of the detail of the images. Also, I apologize for my occasional profanity.  As the interview progressed, I fell into a sense I was in a bar with a fellow Vietnam Veteran just telling stories.
