Ladakh, located in the Himalayas of Northern India, is an area known as "Little Tibet" due to its predominately Tibetan culture. It is a form of Shangri La, isolated in the spectacular 20,000 foot Himalayan ramparts interspersed by ancient Buddhist temples, tribes with amazing cultures, and landscapes that are breathtaking. It was a very demanding trip, with some frigid nights in tent camps, breath-shortening altitudes of 12,000 to 18,000 feet, and long drives over brutal roads hugging mountainsides. But it was worth it, to experience a seldom seen part of our human and natural beauty.
