In the Catholic Church, there are six Papal Orders. Two are direct descendants of Knights of the Crusades, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Dale and I joined the Order of the Holy Sepulchre in 1998 and Dale joined the Order of Malta in 2012.
The Order of the Holy Sepulchre is dedicated to supporting the continuation of a Christian (Catholic) presence in the Holy Land. The Order of Malta is dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance and assisting with international humanitarian relations. Both are accessible to new members through invitation only. The Order of the Holy Sepulchre has about 30,000 Knights, Ladies and Chaplains. The Order of Malta has about 13,500 Knights, Dames and Chaplains. Both are worldwide.
